ADRIAN CUBILLAS
After taking his first darkroom class at age 14, Adrian has had photography
by his side since. His interests in science, technology, and drawing have led him into
the artist he is today: 1 part digital and 1 part analog. With a strong focus on 18th
century photographic processes, primarily Gum Bichromate printing – which mixes
watercolor pigment and other pigments with photochemistry, Adrian brings to life
a new medium that crosses the boundaries of drawing, painting, analog and digital
photographic mediums.
Born and raised in the Sonoran desert of Tucson, Arizona, Adrian received his
degrees in Fine and Studio arts, Visual and Performing arts, and Liberal arts and
Sciences, all with a focus in Photography at Pima College. He gained a degree in
Photography in 2015 from Temple University, Tyler School of Art. He now lives in
Philadelphia and works at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where his
role brings his expertise in Photography and Fine Art printing amongst his other
accomplished duties at the academy.
